ZZADE

Industrial Rock artist from Meanjin.

ZZADE is an industrial rock project, fronted by 21 year old Jade Roles, based in Meanjin. Arising in 2021, with a bass guitar and self-produced demos, ZZADE focused on creating her own world of industrial punk sounds, combining her love of pop powerhouses like St. Vincent and Rina Sawayama, with 90s industrial sounds from the likes of Nine Inch Nails to The Prodigy.

ZZADE began steadily carving a place for herself in the Meanjin music scene with her fuzzy bass guitar driven live shows and infectiously energetic live band. She released two singles in 2022, Hollywood Ending and Triple Diamond $tatus.

Hollywood Ending was met with high praise from the likes of The Partae, Good Call Live, Starving Kids, The Music.com.au. and The Point. The Point stating “Hollywood Ending is angsty, biting pop…that gives off late 90s Garage vibes…it’s catchy and bouncy with just the right amount of ‘fuck you’ attitude.”

Following was “Triple Diamond Status” introducing a heavier, more politically driven side to ZZADE’s evolving sound. Scenstr stated “ZZADE'S latest sonic chapter is the cheeky, sultry, alt-pop indietronica mind-bender 'Triple Diamond Status' – a satirical take on capitalism and the culture of over consumerism that descends into a maelstrom of electrified noise-rock by song's end.”

In 2022, ZZADE was accepted into Brisbane City Council’s QUBE Effect 2023, becoming one of 24 finalists. Through collaborating with No One Network and AV Studio to produce a music video, as well as debuting a live set at The Triffid, ZZADE came away claiming the 2023 Innovation Award and The GOMA Performance Award. ZZADE is set to perform for GOMA’s Up Late Showcase in February 2024.

Throughout the year, ZZADE focused on building a live audience and has seen herself land support spots for Meanjin royalty such as Full Flower Moon Band, Pucker Up and Platonic Sex. ZZADE has also headlined venues such as Tomcat, Greaser and a mini festival for Bad Luck Bar, as well as playing local venues like The Beaded Lady, Black Bear Lodge and The Brightside.

Gaining a reputation for punk inspired energetic live shows, ZZADE is now ready to debut a heavier, live focused sound with her band, bass guitar and “fuck you” attitude by her side.
